  • Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil.
IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT, AMEN.

Iranian Students Protest "Islam of the Taliban"

Iranian students protest over Taliban style government in Tehran. Showing they still have little regard for the Mullahs.

Demonstrations rock Tehran universities
TEHRAN (AFP) - Two of the Iranian capital's main universities were rocked by overnight protests and clashes between students and police, press reports said.
Forty police were lightly injured by stone throwing in front of the Tehran University dormitories, Tehran's police chief, General Morteza Talaie, told the official news agency IRNA.
Meanwhile, students at the Amir Kabir University, one of the country's most prestigious technical colleges, demonstrated late Tuesday against "the intervention of Basij in elections" for members of the Islamic Student Association -- one of the few remaining pro-reform groups still operating on campus.
"We don't want the Islam of the Taliban," and "Death to reactionaries and dictatorship," shouted protestors according to ISNA.

Prosecutors offered Fred Strunk a deal for pleading guilty to charges of growing marijuana, money laundering and theft.
Strunk, 63, was arrested Dec. 14 in Florida after a raid on his $1 million home revealed a large underground complex with offices, a kitchen and growing rooms with about 850 plants at various stages of maturity. The home was in Dixon Springs, about 40 miles northeast of Nashville.
The plants at the time had an estimated street value of $1 million, authorities said.
Strunk was charged with theft after it was determined that he stole electric power from Tri-County Electric to power the underground lights and growing equipment. Read the whole thing

Dracula Castle to Be Returned to Owner
Tuesday, May 23, 2006
BUCHAREST, Romania — More than 60 years after it was seized by communists, the Romanian government is to hand back one of the country's most popular tourist sites, the fabled Dracula Castle, to its former owner, the culture minister said Tuesday.
The castle, worth an estimated US$25 million, was owned by the late Queen Marie and bequeathed to her daughter Princess Ileana in 1938. It was confiscated by communists in 1948 and fell into disrepair.
It was inherited by Dominic van Hapsburg, a New York architect who will be at the ceremony on Friday.Read the rest

Are You Addicted to the Internet?

I think this is more prevelant than people realize. I at one point could have been addicted to it, but that phase seems to have passed.

Growing concern over Internet Addiction
Friday, May 19, 2006 Posted: 1610 GMT (0010 HKT)

While not yet defined as a true addiction, many people are suffering the consequences of obsession with the online world, warns Dr. Diane M. Wieland, who treats patients with computer addiction in her practice in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
For some people, the Internet may promote addictive behaviors and pseudo-intimate interpersonal relationships, reports Wieland in the journal, Perspectives in Psychiatric Care. "Such cyberspace contacts may result in cyber disorders such as virtual relationships that evolve into online marital infidelity (cybersex) or online sexually compulsive behaviors," she writes.
"Obsession with and craving time on the computer results in neglect of real-life personal relationships to the point of divorce," Wieland says.
The prevalence of Internet addiction is hard to gauge at the moment, Wieland notes. Extrapolating from prevalence rates of other addictions, she thinks that 5 percent to 10 percent of Internet users will most likely experience addiction. Read the rest
